This free, family-friendly exhibition marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. It will share objects, photographs and stories that tell the story of Cirencester, the surrounding district and its residents, between 1939 and 1945. The medieval Christian calendar combined agricultural labours, saints’ legends and the Zodiac to create a story- and marvel-rich view of the passing year. Responding to the collaborative workshop practices of medieval artists, illustrators Hebe George, Lou Boulter and Polly Alizarin Harvey have worked together and with author Amy Jeffs to create a mesmerising cycle of images and words, bringing to the familiar wheeling of the seasons a delightful wealth of strangeness.
