Active Learning Sessions

Active learning sessions take place in the Lifelong Learning Centre. There are signs for this throughout the building.

Sessions last approximately an hour but we can reduce the length of the session if you are constrained by time. We can accommodate up to 32 in a session and we generally divide classes into 4 groups.

We welcome the assistance of accompanying adults as this helps children to focus on the activities. Information is provided on the relevant tables and instruction is provided by the session leader.

Visiting school leaders are responsible for the behaviour, supervision and pastoral care of their students during the Museum visit.

Active learning session times are generally available at:
10.15-11.15am
11.30-12.30pm
1-2pm

Please contact us if you wish to arrange sessions outside of these times.

Lunchroom

We hire out the lunchroom to schools on a half hourly basis. Please keep to your allotted time slot. Please recycle rubbish where possible: cans, paper, cardboard, plastics, and foil in the green bins. Food and non-recyclables in the blue bin. Please keep the room tidy as other schools may be using the room after you.

Museum Shop

The museum is open and full of pocket money gifts and souvenirs.  We have also created souvenir packs starting from £1.25 which can be ordered in advance and we can add these to your school invoice.

If you would like to reserve Souvenir Packs for your school group, please visit Souvenir Packs

Traffic runs in both directions so please ensure children are supervised adequately by teachers when crossing the road.
