An ancient firing process creating unique outcomes which by their very nature are unpredictable and, in most cases, cannot be repeated.  This has captivated Ian Shearman and Clive Barrett as potters and forms the focus of their work.

Each firing is influenced by the weather, time, chance, types of reduction material, particle size, glaze maturation and many other factors that are beyond our control.  Working with such uncertainty is exciting.

The work on show is a continuation of Ian Shearman and Clive Barrett’s experiments with such unpredictability.  Raku is about creating things of beauty.
