Brushstrokes of Nature

October 5, 2023 , 10:00 am - November 5, 2023 , 5:00 pm

ROCKY BEACH

Two local artists. One collection of stunning pieces.

We’ve collaborated to curate an exhibition that seamlessly merges our profound passion for painting with the wonders of the natural world. This fusion manifested as a captivating blend of expansive wilderness and intricate flora and fauna.

Our aspiration was to unveil this artistic spectacle within the heart of Cirencester, a town enveloped by the bounties of nature that serve as a perpetual source of inspiration for both of us.

“My collection is a combination of all my great loves- The sea, the sky, and the countryside around me. I’m a big walker and have taken lots of inspiration for my paintings whilst trekking along the south west coast path, and during holidays in Cornwall. Having grown up in Norfolk, I fell in love with the huge expanse of sky there, and so am always drawn to wanting to paint these scenes.

Now, living in Cirencester, I feel very lucky to have so much green space and rolling countryside to compliment the skies that I love to paint. I use all medias, from watercolours to oils and acrylic and absolutely love getting lost in my work.”

Charlotte Stone

“My work is delicate but vibrant. I get inspiration in the beautiful nature that I am lucky enough to experience everyday living in the Cotswolds

I often get told that my style of work suits my personality. Every illustration has some of my nature doodles bursting out of it somewhere. These include; flowers, leaves, patterns and swirls or wherever the moment takes me. Percy the Puffin for example (who was painted with sea water) has little fish painted into his feathers. I work in watercolours, I love the process of layering up the colours and seeing the animal come to life. I like the different coat textures I can create using these layers whether it is fur, blubber or scales!”
