Spatha – From Discovery to Display

From Discovery to Display

Help us raise £25,000 to preserve, interpret, and display two rare Roman swords!

The discovery of two Roman spatha (Roman swords) in the Cotswolds hit the headlines earlier this year and attracted international interest. We are incredibly fortunate to have had these rare swords donated to the Corinium Museum. Following analysis and an x-ray by Historic England, the swords are about to be sent for preservation so they can go on display.

We need your help to raise funds to put the swords on permanent display at Corinium Museum.

This ambitious campaign aims to:

  • Conserve and preserve the swords
  • Create interpretation to go alongside a brand-new display case
  • Design & build a bespoke display case with environmental monitoring
  • Make a tactile replica to go alongside the case

Please donate to our Spatha campaign, no matter how large or small all donations will help to put these rare Roman swords on public display.
