Roman Toilet

What is the Latin word for toilet?

ToiletLatrina

Toilet (Latin: latrina)
Roman toilets or public latrines were stone or wooden bench seats positioned over a sewer. They had round toilet holes with a narrow slit, probably for using a bottom cleaning tool. People didn’t toilet alone, they sat next to their neighbours whilst doing their business! Did they flush? – yes, some Roman toilets were flushable but most relied on a stream below to take the debris away.
