Fish Sauce

Romans ate a smelly fish sauce. What was it called?

FishGarum or Liquamen

Fish (Latin: piscis)
Romans ate a lot of fish and used a very smelly fish sauce called garum or liquamen to salt their food. Garum was made from rotten fish guts and was a Roman delicacy (which means the Romans loved it!) Fish was preserved with salt but eaten fresh near rivers and seas. Fish and other sea-life can be seen decorating Roman mosaics.
