Nature in Shards is a collaborative exhibition of work by two local mosaic artists, Yvette Green and Jo Moreman. Both artists have been creating mosaics for over 20yrs and in that time have both honed their own very distinctive and unique styles.

Yvette, inspired by the intense colours found in her native homeland of South Africa, and her once in a lifetime visit to the Costa Rica, uses vibrant and lustrous sheets of coloured glass, cutting and shaping each piece individually to form glorious, sculptured pieces of work for the home and garden.

Jo predominantly uses unglazed ceramic tesserae, cutting the tiles to form intricate elements to her creations, and giving her work a more traditional feel. Fauna, flora, folk art, myths, and legends play a large part in the influence of her work, with pretty metal, ceramic and other embellishments plus mirror to add an extra dimension to her pieces.

Both artists have a real passion for the natural world around them and are most content when exploring the great outdoors, seeing what natural forms and wonders mother nature has created, with this and their enthusiasm of creating mosaics they have come together to form a collection of work for this one-off exhibition.
