This illustrated lecture zeros in on four objects from medieval and renaissance Cirencester: an ivory knife handle, a brass tomb plaque, a stone sculpture, and a 16th century portrait. It explores what these carved and painted figures are wearing, and how all of these garments relate to Cirencester’s wool trade.

Dr. Valija Evalds has a PhD in medieval art. She lectures in the history of textiles and the decorative arts at Hereford College of Arts.
