Olivier Jamin is an award winning multi-talented artist working across a wide range of media. He offers lectures, workshops, and is also a film maker.

Olivier also delivers British Sign Language (BSL) tours and makes BSL films. He was commissioned by Corinium Museum to deliver a series of short films to introduce the Gladiators exhibition on display at the museum and to highlight some of Corinium Museum’s displays and artefacts.

Whilst he was working on the films he won the prestigious IPSE Outstanding Freelancer Award.

The pandemic has hit the arts industry hard. Olivier has felt this as much as his clients, more so due to the challenges of being a Deaf artist using British Sign Language as their first language in a world that relies more and more on remote communication. But he was determined to work with partners to bring visitors back to venues, to help diversify their audiences by connecting to hard to reach communities, and building bridges between worlds. He provides a unique, multifaceted service within the arts and sector while continuing to develop his practice creating commissioned public arts.

Olivier is an advocate for the deaf community and believes strongly that there should be no barriers to working with deaf people. His quality as a film maker, presenter and communicator is clear in the films that he made for us.

Olivier says: “It was a great experience working with the Corinium Museum. I was delighted to be involved in their new project and supporting them to make the exhibition more accessible for Deaf Sign language users. Collaboration with the innovative team was great and hopefully our work will ensure that a wider audience can enjoy a glimpse of Roman history through the displays and artefacts. With this project, the Corinium Museum has created a fantastic example that hopefully other museums can follow to provide better access for all. ”
