- Samian bowl decorated with leaves and vines. It was found during excavations of the Leaholme fort in 1961. Samian is a type of orange, glossy, decorated fine tableware that was used to serve food. Samian ware came from Gaul, modern-day France, and it was exported throughout the Empire in large quantities. Also known as Terra Sigillata.
